Name: David Tinsley

Currently owned: VW Transporter Kombi
On the shortlist: "Got to have an Aston in there somewhere!"
The Shed - Jeep Cherokee
Cost: £1,495 (it was when David sent it, honest! - MB)
Remaining balance: £98,505
Why I chose it: "Not the most interesting car and I don't really like 4x4s, but I need a tow-car and this fits the budget. I like the fact that this has the larger petrol engine in it, but still think it will be pretty dull to drive. It means I won't have any emotional attachment to it and can just use and abuse it."
The Brave Pill - Aston Martin DB9
Cost: £25,250
Remaining balance: £73,255
Why I chose it: "I need to tick the Aston box and just think these have a timeless elegance. For the trips where you want to enjoy it or I'm taking the wife away for the weekend, I can't think of anything better. I also think it will be something to just enjoy owning and looking at in the garage. I can't see this going down in value much and like the fact it has done a few miles. I don't want a garage queen and want to be comfortable putting mileage on it. I do like the wheels on this example and prefer dark interiors"
The one still on sale - Ford Fiesta ST Performance Edition
Cost: £23,500
Remaining balance: £49,755
Why I chose it: "These just look like brilliant fun and are the sort of car you can just jump in and enjoy. Brilliant for running the kids to their clubs and bombing around locally. Cheap to run and would be happy to park it anywhere. I am not entirely convinced by the colour, but did think the rest of the fleet could do with brightening up."
BMW M5 Competition (F10)
Cost: £32,000
Remaining balance: £17,755
Why I chose it: "A mate has had the same car from new and has done over 100,000 miles in it. His plan is to take it to 250,000 miles (with full BMW service history), retire it from daily duty and keep it forever. I think the story is just so cool that I would want to buy the same car in homage. This will be awesome for family trips and making the daily commute more interesting."
Caterham Seven
Cost: £14,995
Remaining balance: £2,760
Why I chose it: "I thought the rule was you must have a Caterham? Drove one in the wet at PalmerSport and just thought it was brilliant fun. I like the look of this one and do believe that the K-Series is a classic Caterham. Would love to build one with my Son one day, but this should help to bridge the gap. Will get it out when the weather is right and just go for a blast."
Brian James C4 trailer
Cost: £2,109
Remaining balance: £651 (This will be invested in shares in Shell, given how much V-Power I will be buying)
Why I chose it: "We can use this to tow the Caterham to hill climbs and track days. "
