First-ever road-legal Aston motorbike unveiled

PH doesn't normally do bikes - but the AMB 002 Roadster isn't the average motorcycle...

We’ve been here before with Aston Martin and Brough Superior. Both AMB 001 and AMB 001 Pro were as spectacular as might be hoped for from superbikes with the Aston wings on them, if not more so. Now the collaboration is going one step further with the AMB 002 Roadster, the first ever road-legal bike from Aston Martin and Brough Superior - ‘a lightweight, razor-sharp machine born for maximum enjoyment on the road.’

See, this is no mere rebadging exercise, an existing model dressed up with some Aston add-ons. The AMB 002 Roadster is an all-new machine, a ‘rider-focused sports bike’ at its purest, so there’s a new engine, only the very best materials, and a design to stop even seasoned superbike admirers in their tracks. The Aston Martin influence can be seen in the rear light blades like a Vulcan, exhausts like a Vanquish, and hand-crafted saddle leather seat pads; just because the AMB 002 is a bike doesn’t mean it’ll go without the special touches of an Aston Martin.

The Brough Superior influence is felt, well, in all the motorbike bits. As a creation ‘without compromise of carry-over componentry’, there really was no limit to what could be achieved (or spent). Hence the V-Twin sits in a titanium frame that also forms part of the bike’s architecture - and weighs just 5kg. The fuel tank is carbon fibre, as are the body panels. The ‘Fior fork’ front suspension improves on normal telescopic forks by separating the steering and braking forces rather than having to deal with both together. All in this AMB 002 Roadster weighs just 190kg, with a 50:50 weight distribution for ‘an immediate sense of balance and agility.’

Should be fast, too, with 190kg moved by 130hp. Power comes from a 1,038cc, four-stroke v-twin, again a bespoke design for this application. With 81lb ft alongside, Aston Martin is promising a ‘responsive, engaging character with accessible, exhilarating performance’ from the Roadster. Not quite as wild as the 180hp and 225hp bikes that have come before, but then the AMB 001s couldn’t be used for a Sunday morning blast on your favourite roads - this one can. Imagine pulling up to your favourite cafe on an Aston Martin superbike…

President of Brough Superior Motorcycles Sas, Thierry Henriette, said: “This motorcycle is truly one of a kind, both in its design and in the riding experience it delivers. Every bit as striking dynamically as it is visually, this razor-sharp roadster offers exhilarating sensations, creating the impression of becoming one with a lightweight, precise blade, propelled by our all-new, even more powerful engine. The rider's upright posture and the completely unobstructed field of vision combine to create a unique feeling of gliding above the road with absolute confidence and complete control.” You thought Aston Martin cars sounded like fun.

Just 300 AMB 002 Roadsters will be made; more than both the AMB 001s combined, if still a tiny run of bikes. The price? Unconfirmed, so you know it’s going to be enormous - there’s an AMB 001 in the classifieds at £200k, for reference. Orders are being taken now, with deliveries expected to start from the third quarter of 2027. Enough time to learn how to ride, surely…
