CircuitMess kit is no mere scale model, either - it's a fully customisable miniature EV

Given all that’s been achieved by Rimac Automobili - let’s not forget that Rimac Group is now the majority shareholder of Bugatti Rimac - it can be easy to forget the company is just 17 years old. Now, those kids born in the years since 2009 (and probably some old-age children as well) can get their own Rimac with this, the CircuitMess Nevera.

Like Rimac, CircuitMess is another recently established Croatian company, STEM focused and selling more than 300,000 DIY electronics and programming kits since forming in 2017. So this Nevera replica is rather more than just a scale model, or humble RC car. Collaborating with Rimac on an officially licensed product, CircuitMess has made an assembly process that ‘mirrors, in miniature, the core systems of the full size car.’ So you’ll install a battery, a motor, steering system and more.

So far, so Tamiya. What marks this is out is the fact that the Nevera can be paired with your PC and programmed with the CircuitBlocks app that also comes from CircuitMess to personalise the experience. Those who know what C++ is can to ‘write their own driving logic, customize controller inputs, and design light sequences using the car's built-in LEDs.’ There’s even a Boost mode to figure out/show off, with sensors, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in. So a bit more than your average car model, and potentially a great thing to teach the kids (or yourself) a bit about how car electronics work. ‘Build. Code. Drive’ is how they sell it.

And despite the Rimac branding, this isn’t a toy just for the rich. The ‘exclusive, limited edition’ CircuitMess Rimac Nevera is now on sale at €159.99, or about £135 right now. Which doesn’t go very far these days when trying to keep the family entertained. The end of the year will be here before you know it…
