Things are never quiet for long at McLaren. Its most powerful ever convertible launched in the summer, the new Artura is waiting in the wings, the hunt for a new CEO is on, and there's still the little matter of an all-electric hypercar to ponder. You might be right in thinking, therefore, that a 600LT like this one is old news. Only this one is a little different to the rest...
Most obviously that's in the spec, with just about every option box ticked from the factory. It's a Clubsport car, meaning you get the Senna seats, but really that's just the tip of an extras iceberg. This 600LT has both the exterior carbon packs, the carbon roof, a carbon engine deck, the Trofeo R tyres (on lightweight wheels), the front lift system and the B&W speakers. It even comes with the car charger and McLaren car cover, with plenty more besides. There surely can't have been another in Silica White with red pinstripe, either - it really is an incredible looking 600LT, with almost a bit of 620R about it.
That said, even in primer grey without a single option added, the Sports Series Long Tail would remain a mighty supercar. Perhaps it didn't have the impact of the earlier 675, but emulating McLaren Automotive's greatest achievement short of a P1 was not a bad strategy for the 600LT. That same combination of fearsome performance with unrivalled driver reward ensured just the same level of praise for this car as its LT predecessor. There really aren't many, if any, better driving sports cars than the stripped-out McLarens.
Of course, the next owner can expect more of the same from this one. Where the Silica White LT differs to all bar one other in the classifieds is being nearly new. Not only does being registered in 2021 mean barely any miles have been covered (just 300), it also ensures that the LT is covered by McLaren warranty until April 2024.
Production of the 600LT finished some time ago, so we're not sure where this one's been in the meantime - but that's rather by the by. Certainly it makes for an intriguing proposition for anyone who missed out on an allocation first time around. Or who doesn't fancy the idea of a petrol-electric McLaren on the driveway.
Not least because, for all the options added, this LT costs what a new one would have at launch. Then it was £185,500 before any extras; this one is for sale at £184,950. Potentially a canny buy for a new owner, then, as whatever happens to McLaren as it moves into a new era, nothing is likely to threaten the 600LT's status as an epic supercar. Just as we've been saying since 2018, in fact.
