You should know by now that there is a, let's say eclectic, mix of metal on the PistonHeads classifieds. Lots come with a lifetime of modifications, bodykits and aftermarket 'upgrades', which might be your bag when you own it, but when sticking it up for sale, often doesn't go down as well with the enthusiastic crowd (yes, we see you PH forum users...)
In which case, look no further. Because here we have not just a much-loved and cherished BMW M635 CSi. But an almost completely untouched BMW M635 CSi that is defined as "mechanically as close to new as possible." So you needn't worry about plastic eBay parts here.
This model is rare enough in itself, as one of just 524 right-hand-drive examples ever made (although fewer than 100 models are estimated to be on the road or SORN'ed). BMW introduced a wealth of upgrades to this model over the regular 635 CSi, including that delightful six-cylinder M88 engine with 286hp, originally made for the M1 supercar, plus uprated suspension, limited slip diff and a five-speed Getrag gearbox.
If that wasn't enough to convince you that this example is pristine enough for your consideration, this exact car was featured in Classic Car Magazine in 2009 as an 'M Power Legend', which we whole-heartedly agree with. It's even been owed by photographer David Hockney, for a random extra bit of kudos.
With 80,718 miles, including a £7k "programme of age related, preventative work" a thousand miles ago, there's no doubt that, waffle aside, if you're bored of looking at odd, modified or down-right bizarre modifications of your favourite classic BMWs, here you are. Just be prepared to pay the price for perfection.
