Amazing time lapse video of some clouds on a mountain in Tenerife. The cloud bank looks like the sea when speeded up.

And then there is this similar one:

I can't work this one out. There is a sunset and a starfield in the same frame - it is either a 10 stop grad filter or some layering in post. There are a few scenes (00:55 and 02:40) where there are some strangely mobile trees but the mountains in the distance stay static. Other than that is does look very pretty. There is a good bit at 02:24 where it shows a time lapse sunset and it is interesting to see how the colours in the landscape change during the transition to twilight.

The foreground/background pan is achieved using a dolly like this

There's loads of great stuff like that on Vimeo, this is one of my favourites.

I'd love to know what sort of frame rate is involved with those videos.

I have spent the best part of the last two days mucking around with my camera and probably taken over 4000 images for time lapse movies just to learn what to do and what the best methods are.

The one I did today was taking an image every 10 seconds and as you can see it is very jerky. To be able to get such a fluid motion like in the first video posted must take a picture every 1-2 seconds. It would be interesting to see a tutorial from the people that actually make these videos.

I've been tinkering with these. Results seem to be best shooting at 1 second intervals, then having 25 frames a second +. Tried a few star-trails that worked nicely but need to be out for a good 2hrs in one spot to get decent motion.

I've also been messing with settings. The most important thing (IMO) is to get 25 or 30 frames per sec)

This is 25 fps but only 1 photo every 30 secs http://www.stevecarter.com/random/clouds_&_tid...

Woah, that "&" sends Opera into a fit. Any chance you can copy the file with a name without it please?

Twitter didn't like & either!

Two ropes are my boat mooring (sans boat at the moment!) You can see the buoy at the end of the rope

That's very cool!

Right, I really must get the pictures of a Stelvio webcam that I've captured every 3 minutes for the last 18 months into a video.

Also discovered that my f3.5 doesn't really cut it when doing might shots! More bloody money cry.

Not so much of a good landscape in this one, but it was just a quick tester of the new app i downloaded. So it wasnt taken with my dslr, just an iphone 4.

I set it up when i went to bed and turned off when i got up. Was 1 frame/10 seconds and playback at 30 fps. Typical Western Scotland morning really!
