Every time I watch Channel 4 news it's like watching amateur hour. Does anyone know if they go to air unprepared or if there is a particular reason for it?

I'm not suggesting live news is easy, but almost everyone else seems to make a better job of it when it comes to the basics.

Someone's gotta be the worst at it, being the worst is what they do best!

I suspect they're hamstrung by budgets, and crap staff.

...And what was with that liberal fk-tard report about that Florida prisoner who helped his friend shoot a mother of 2 three times in the head after raping her, and then shooting her two little kids in the head, asking if it was fair he had to spend a lifetime in prison! Unfkingbelievable!

Well, let's face it, it isn't fair that he has to spend a lifetime in prison. He should be tortured and shot immediately.

Channel 4 news - the Grauniad of the television news world, worth watching to see Jon snow and krishnan g-m get all in a lather over anything non-liberal. Tw*ts.

Snows fawning towards the Tomlinson family yesterday was particularly ill advised- bearing in mind a criminal investigation is underway.

Some of them seem alright, the woman who does the business update seems alright, as does Faisal Islam, though he does get on my nerves sometimes.

I hate most of their news broadcasts though, most of the time it's as if they're trying to please the Guardian readership, with too many 'lets question the penal system,' and all that sort of moralistic soul searching type crap that seems to have engulfed the middle classes as well as channel 4 news.

Faisal Islam,
Is he their economics reporter?, if so he is the worst of them IMO.

On the whole I much prefer channel 4 news to the BBC.

Quite

The other case of a man serving life without parole because as a boy he sat in a car when another person killed someone by shooting from it was rather more problematic.

You could say that by showing both cases you are achieving balance, because some 'children' may well commit crimes terrible enough to spend the rest of their lives in jail.

I never thought I'd read Sky News described as fair.

For those who don't like Ch 4 and BBC and want the news that is normally the most free of political bias, try ITN. It might not be the best but it certaily is much better than Sky.

Jeff Randal was once the BBC chief economics reporter.

Not really. Under Florida Law you are part of the crime if you are present, and you get treated the same as if you pulled the trigger. The kid had every chance to save himself by ratting on his mates but he chose not to.

And of course Channel 4 News (home of the bleeding heart) gave a good view on this kid and I'm sure he regrets his actions today but he was the architect of his own downfall. No good saying he was a kid either as he obviously watched another human being die and did nothing about it.

A bit OT but there is a case in Colorado where a girl accepted a lift home from a 'firend of a friend' who turned out to be a wanted felon. The police spotted him and began to pursue. Eventually they caught the car and the guy ran off. The girl stayed in the car and was arrested. When the police caught the guy they became involved in a shoot-out and and the guy ended up killing a policeman before killing himself. The girl was then charged and convicted of accessory to murder (as she was in the car with him when the police chase began) and, I believe, is still in prison for it.

Their worst 'correspondent' is the Arts/Culture chap. Nothing against the gheyers - have three in my team! - but the way he so overtly camps it up is just so alienatingly distracting that you don't really get to understand anything of the thing he's reporting on.

Fair enough he deserves some serious prison time. But does this case really justify life without parole?
