Followed home from Forest of Dean....

A mate has had his bikes stolen, probably followed home after a ride on Monday evening. Look out for any s with the following... Red Intense M9 - Cotic Soul Black - Trek Session 88 - Santa Cruz Nomad White - Santa Cruz Chamelon Blue - Cove G-Spot Blue. All stolen from a garage in Chepstow, South Wales.

I know there's very little chance of recovering any of the bikes, but at least be extra careful if you're in the area. Having reported it to the authorities, he was told of a number of similar reports, so the thieving s are obviously targeting bikers in the area

sorry to hear that pal. hope you can get money back/new ones from insurance? if you're from chepstow, how come you went to forest of dean, not cwmcarn or afan?? just out of curiosity.

Thats a lot of nice bikes to lose in one go, gutted for him. Hopefully he has very good insurance.

Followed in the car or riding back? I have to say the former is one of the reasons I carry my bike inside the car not on roofbars.

Maybe I've been watching too many episodes of 24 on DVD recently but this and similar reports do make you wonder about taking some basic steps to check you're not being followed before arriving home. What is it they do on the telly, pull over for a bit, double back on yourself etc before arriving at destination?

As stated - it was 2 of my mate's bikes that were stolen, not mine. Thankfully, mine is safely stored in Chamonix!

Not sure why they were riding Forest of Dean, but one of the guys runs a mountain bike guiding business, so I'm sure he knows where the best trails are!

They have house and contents insurance but it certainly won't cover the costs! It was a very expensive collection of bikes

Anyway, just thought I'd post a heads up for people to be extra vigilant when riding in the area..

You can never be too careful...unfortunately the scroats that steel this kind of stuff tend to know exactly what they are looking for. Mate of mine had his golf clubs stolen from his car once....they left another set behind that to the uneducated eye looked very nice but were worth about 20% of the one's that were stolen.

As others have said if you have this kind of gear or indeed a nice car it's well worth checking you aren't being followed. I used to have an E36 M3 Convertible many years ago which I kept in a lock up garage as I knew it wouldn't last a week parked on the street in London....I always used to check I wasn't being followed when I put it away.

Surprised he hasn't got insurance ? If you can afford bikes that expensive it's crazy not to insure them properly.
