All the stuff they do about another 7/7 attack being imminent after the supposed death of ozzie B l? How can he run and actively spout the nonsense he does, potentially scaring the British public yet is allowed to live here without being 'dealt' with?

I mean, call me daft or whatever but surely if someones a threat to the state, directly or indirectly you deal with it? Surely someone like Anjem Choudary could be arrested on causing ill feeling and dealt with in some manner / given a hard time by special services?!

Excuse my ignorance on the whole thing, but it jsut seems daft that he's allowed to spout all this nonsense about future attacks against the British public yet is allowed to live here and preach his untasteful ways?

After re reading this is starting to sound a bit daily mailesque, so i apologise for that - I just cant get my head around it?!

We have a freedom of speech. Whilst I agree that at times it does seem rather one way, I think it is part of what makes our country great, that we allow these kinds of scum to have their say, even if unpalatable to us.

It would delight me no end however if Cameron might say something like "we have a freedom of speech which means this as***le can say these things, but he's still free to live anywhere else if this country is so terrible"....

Do you have a link to this cleric? As for freedom of speech, we don't. Chap was sent to prison for 70 days for burning a Quran.

Something will have to change in our cities soon. When more terrorists start coming out of London and Birmingham than Pakistan then there will need to be a clean-up.

If you want the real story, written from the inside I would read The Islamist by Ed Husain. Which has the sub title "Why I joined radical Islam in Britain, what I saw inside and why I left" It is the documentation of how disaffected youth are targeted and twisted. But more importantly what should be done to stop the rot. Miss Philips has a somewhat shrill approach that is unfortunately easy to dismiss because of her over arching personal politics.

True but is there not some law against inciting hatred and violence? Is that only for the non-easily offended or infidels?

I think the problem relates to what happened after WW2, in that the victorious Nations assumed that their liberal view would, as witnessed by the UN declaration of human rights, become the accepted norm worldwide.
Remember, this view was as a result of the treatment of the Jews by the Nazis.
The instigators of the UN declaration and the liberals would, I doubt, have ever considered that their attempt to ensure individual freedom, would lead to those against liberal views using the mechanisms the liberals had provided.
Which is why we are in the mess we are in.

What do they have to be disaffected about?

Ok, sociological bks, second generation, sent to schools in the UK, with parents still presenting norms from the "homeland".
Could mean confusion in beliefs?

It's a generational thing. The first generation of immigrants knew why they came. But, as they try to bring up their kids and grandkids with their own values the mismatch with their life increases. They are becoming a lost generation. And that is prey to those that want willing victims.

When I drive past I'm careful to go outside of rush-hour then I don't have to see that godforsaken place out of the window for longer than I have to.

So like someones already pointed out, define inciting hatred vs freedom of speech? I guess this is as diluted and unclear as it goes from one cops idea / understanding of the law to the nexts.. Hmm.
