Mike in last nights episode:

Also, anyone else notice the massive paint run on the gear selector shroud, looked awfull. Edd's hand covers most of it but if you are quick you can pause it as he puts it on and see it.

Saw that.. it was quite a bad one too.

I couldn't believe they didn't give the engine a quick lick of paint either?

I know this program has flaws but this one was a classic! Several bits of pipework and cabling were left in the engine bay when it went off to the re-spray then when it came back they seemed to be replaced with new bits.

I thought that by giving it a red re-spray and spending the saved money on what seemed to be an iffy hood would have been better.

And why replace original steel wheels with Minilight copies??

For gods sake ...lighten up

fairly informative, nice to see the car in its finished state and ed gave a nod to the history of it as well.

If you dont like the programme so much then simply dont watch it???confused

I didn't say I didn't like it. I really like the program. I was pointing out that they had just paid a couple of grand for paint job and one of the parts had a massive paint run on it.

Thought they did a good job with the Sprite. Not sure why they didn't try to do something with the roof. I agree the maglite wheels aren't really in keeping with it's old style. It would have been better if they had refurbed the original wheels IMO. Still a very watchable episode.

I thought it was one of the better ones this episode too. Like was said before the P38 last week has kind of been done to death now, but the sprite was something entirely different for this programme.

I always thought the bonnet was going to be fibre glass so I was surprised to learn it was actually steel. They must be a kings ransom to replace..?

I too love the programme. I do wish though, that Ed would replace some of the very rusty bolts/screws/other small stuff, when putting the parts back together. Seeing a nice newly painted panel being fixed in place by old rusty nuts and bolts doesn't seem right....

I think mark evans was best for that with his car/bike/plane is born series. Although to be fair that was one vehicle for an entire series.

Has mark given up now? not seen any new progrmmes for ages

Does say further into the description that it has disk brake conversion at the front.

I remember when they did the 205 gti - head gasket went on it and that was "breezed over".
Using the same cambelt and standard head gasket on the cosworth they over uprated items.
Best one was Mike going "LARRRVELY WHITE COMPOMOTIVE ALLOYS ON THE MX5" when on screen you could clearly see the "Enkei" logo on the rim.

Having said that its on the best car shows on the box.. Is this a new series thought as I've not seen the frogeye sprite one?

Wouldn't be surprised if that's the same garage Mike bought it from in the first place.

Interesting restoration, and while it may not have been perfect it was still interesting and somewhat informative.

I am surprised they didn't do anything about the hood on the car, considering its condition. And why didn't they paint the engine too...have I missed something, like a major reason why you can't?

Anyway, sad to see it when the actors come in to buy at one price and its on the market later for another. Or even if it is a real person doing the purchasing, that they so often seem to be sold moments later for a much higher price. I always like to think the cars are being sold on to people who really want it and want to look after it.

No, I think the seller was Beech Hill Garage nr Reading. Recognised it cos I bought a car there last year.
