Any luck DIY fixing compacts?

A while back my old Canon S70 broke and I made it far worse by dismantling it.
I had an accident today with my little Lumix FX8 - a wheel fell over on it and has broken the mode wheel.
Found a vid on youtube of how to dismantle it to get at the LCD, and got far enough to see that the mode wheel has broken off the PCB. However, it looks just the same as my old S70 in that there are lots of little screws and it's not immediately obvious which need removing to get it out of the chassis enough to swap the broken PCB/wheel with a spare.
I can't find any other guides to it on the net. There are places that purport to have service manual PDFs but they want me to download exe files
Any tips?
