Bought my son a new XBOX 250gb about seven weeks ago from Argos. The tray has just got stuck in the out position. It just jerks a bit, but won't go back in.

I'm going to take it back for a replacement, but he's jumping up and down about all the stuff saved on the HD. Thoughts were to take the new hard drive out of the replacement and swop them. Forewarned is forearmed so I'd like to know if anyone has been in a similar predicament and what was the reception they got.

Everytime my 360 RROD I just sent the xbox back "naked". I think argos will be fine about it.

If he's worried about the xbox live marketplace games he's bought off xbox he'll be able to recover these games for free

if he's worried about his stats on online games those will be safe as long as he logs in with the same gamertag

the only thing is the saved games - u can order a transfer kit from microsoft if you want.

Or plug a normal USB stick into the USB port and transfer over the saves. The Xbox has supported external media for a while now.

It was a 250gb 360. Went to argos who changed it no problem. He had traded in his transfer thingy recently and the harddrive had about four years worth of games on it.

I asked if I could keep the current HD and swap it with the new one and they had no issues with that. I could've probably got away with keeping the old one as they didn't really check the duff 360, but I'm afarid I'm too honest for my own good smile
