What a day yesterday was, beautiful sunny morning, about 11 a couple of mates pull up in there cars and suggest a nice blast to clear the winter cobwebs! What a Suggestion that was so with my car freshly kitted out with PH.com stickers Front AND back, we left, in a convoy of three, Pug 106, Orion, and a Daewoo Matiz up the the A78 to Greenock, along the M8 to the Erskine Bridge (over the river clyde) the along the A82 past Loch Lomond! Lovely! Wonderful!! The A82 is a great road, and we were maintaining speeds of just over 70mph! Brilliant! We stopped near the top of the Loch for a stretch of the legs and a wee wander, before returning via the Gareloch! Don't the MOD build some great roads! We blasted across to Garelochhead, and down the MOD Road to Coulport, before returning along the same Great MOD Road, past HMNB Clyde (Or Faslane! Trident Sub base) then into Helensborough for a bag of chips! Absolutely brilliant!!!

And now, for the Apology!

Ted, I'm Sorry! I scared away some potetial money filled pockets!!
With my car having a PH.com sticker on the back window, and on the windscreen above the driver, the stickers aren't easy to miss when wandering down the street! 2 young, respectable looking lads, walked up to us while we were standing chatting in Helensborough and asked about the site, ie, what is it!! My Reply was "It's for intelligent people who enjoy driving and not making their cars looks like bins with tat on!!"
Thinking they would see the funny side, but they didn't and ****ed off! Oops!

However, 2 minutes later the noise of a maxed motor was to be heard by one and all, blue washer LEDs, Bean can exhaust, bodykit, lowered..... and backfiring!! It was a rusty bright red nova, with no arches and knackered everything amd was wobbling and trundling (slowly) down the street, with the same two lads sitting in the front!
The 6 of us fell about laughing! We got some dodgy looks and it took us 10 minutes to calm down, if only I had a camera!

Should I be apologising, or do you owe me a Ted?!?!

that was a good lesson on how to 'over-describe'

I don't think you need to apologise too much. Consider: PH is funded by advertising (I believe from another post somehere). Look at the advertisers: TVR dealers, Lotus dealers, etc etc. Would they want to have their time wasted by Max Phuckwits? So will they care if there are a few less visiting the site? So no problem.

Maybe the rest of us are due you a beer tho'?

I think that makes sense ...

John.

Spot on mate. They'll mature into PH readers some years after their Novas fall apart.

The section from the north of Loch Lomond to Fort William is good but loch Lomond to Glasgow is a complete mess. The potholes are big enough to swallow 18" wheels and punctures are inevitable. Much better at night because you can stay in the middle of the road.
