Windows XP - Task Manager is showing two CPU graphs with different traces in them. System Information has two entries titled Processor.

My problem is that the PC is only specced with one CPU! It's a Dell Inspiron 9100

What the flip's going on!!!!!!!!

Is it an Intel 3GHz with HT? HT standing for hyperthreading, which allows you to have one processor, split virtually into 2 processors which supposedly improves some multi-tasking functions.

Does this help?

The 9100s have a hyperthreading CPU. If you look at the little Intel Inside sticker on the bottom right of the keyboard, it has 'H T' on it

It is indeed HT.

Smile, and be happy.

Still think it's wierd though.......

Tell you what - my new laptop might be fast, but its a real brick! The power supply is thicker than my old Inspiron 8100 and as for the laptop itself - Jeez !!!!!!!
