SL55 AMG Tyres

Hi All,

Just wanted to know what peoples thoughts are on putting 255/35/18 94 Y on the front of an SL55 or would it be better to go for the 255/45/18 103 Y? The standard ones are 255/40/18 98 Y.

Is it a problem changing the profile?

The 255/45/18's will not fit as they will foul the suspension.

Thanks for the reply mark, would it be ok to go for the 255/35/18's in that case or is the load rating to low for a SL55?

I in the passed have looked into different size tyres. Point one the rolling radius's front to rear need to be within 4%.
I tried 40 aspect ratio tyres on the back to raise the gearing but the ECU would cut the power,
even round mild bends.
I would stay with the normal sizes either 18" or 19" with the correct size tyres.

Thanks Mike,

Would the ECU be that concerned about the front tyres being a different profile as i know with 4x4 cars you shouldn't have the rolling radias too different but didn't think it would make much difference on a rear wheel drive car?

Maybe this is too obvious but why the fk don't you put the correct tyre size on?
