Anybody watching it. Why do they need to do another rangerover/ landrover type again they have done 4-5 now and make hardly any money do something different. On the ads looks like 2 different cars are shown. Does the first car break down.

Possibly to make the programme more interesting? I've considered a P38 in the past and I found it quite interesting to see more of the common faults described.. if they'd bought a trouble free example ( is that possible ? ) it would be a short and less interesting recording.

The mechanic guy should just go and do his own show.

yes

I can actually stand watching it when the main emphasis is on Ed, and he seems to know his stuff, but Mike is the most annoying little cock and I absolutely can't stand the pathetic attempt at pre-practised haggling when they come to sell.

Mike "I'll tell ya what I'm after, seven grand, seven grand and it's yours"

Buyer "hmmm I wasn't looking at spending that much. I'll offer you 5."

Mike "put yer hand out. It's yours."

Mike (to camera) "Well we lost 600 on that but we can't win every time, see ya me old cockney sparras"

Do they still get production crew and friends of to "buy" the cars?

It would be interesting to see whether they actually would make a profit in real life. I suspect no, and the mike guy is a ponce.

Its very difficult to make a car program interesting and easy to watch. The combination of the two makes it easy to watch and to follow whats happening.

I would prefer wheeler Dealers like that featuring a british car with a V8.

Better than a diesel focus.

Spot on. Its the way he haggles for the cars from the original owners, telling them their car isn't worth jack st, and then when Ed China has spent hours trying to put it back together again and someone then tries to haggle, he looks at them like they've just punched his mum in the face!

Incredibly badly scripted, but the technical aspects are great. I just want to see the final episode where Ed stuffs Mike in the boot of an old Mini, welds it shut and rolls it down a long hill.

You must have missed the Jensen Interceptor episode then. That was a good one.

Yes that was a cracking episode.

Better to have lots of british cars than ever featuring a diesel Focus. I wasn't saying that was the only good car, far from it.

Just trying to say it is difficult to make an interesting & watch-able motoring program, and I think WD does it well.

To be frank since Sky+ landed in the Jay household I tend to fast-forward to the point FCW drives to the workshop and scraped the bottom as he parks outside the door, watch till he turns up again to take it from Ed for the first drive (No way I'd give FCW first go if I was Edd!) and turn it off.

I adore the show, but really they could start with Edd in the garage saying "some short bloke bought this Rusty Mini, lets get the turd polish out!" spend 58 mins of screen time working on it and read a quick statement saying "well he sold it again for a small loss of £200, but hey two hundred quid is nothing in the grand scheme of making a TV show and we all enjoyed ourselves, so balls to it".

It's a means-to-an-end to produce a car maintenance show for those of us who have no use for a slide hammer, pea of hardener or indeed a golf ball of filler to mix it with. It's not like 'a something is born' I don't think you'd ever learn anything in enough detail to try it yourself.

The Ranger Rover one did make me wince when after doing all that work, then giving it a good clean and polish Mike suggested taking it out for a proper test drive, I thought they were going off road.

I've also noticed the last few episodes have had "buyers" turn up and not buy.

Can I say something which may come as a shock to some of you ? It's a TV show, its not all real and some of it is setup for the cameras.

My god no! I thought I had tuned into someone's brain albeit a broken one, but a TV show. Never.

I can't believe that some people think he wouldn't buy a 'lemon' - what would the show be if he didn't?

I feel the sarcasm in your post. I think the point people were trying to make is how blatantly obvious the set-ups are. I think the programme would be more bearable in those areas if Mr. Brewer didn't ramp up his 'Cockney-ness' to the point where he sounds like Terry Tibbs.

For the full effect, I think they need to shave Ed China's head and have a Mastiff sitting in shot whenever they're filming in the workshop.
