Alarm not responding

Ok before i call Carl Baker any ideas,

I have had problems arming and disarming the alarm for a little while having to get closer and closer, the internal fob works fine so still able to override immobiliser, easy fix i thought must be the batteries, have changed those and now it does not work at all !

I may have be a complete knob and put these in wrong way so first thing is to confirm that they go in +side up i.e largest surface area facing you under clip.

Other than that any ideas ?, alarm does not respond at all, fob still works immobiliser but cannot lock car.

Its on a 1998 Chimaera and believe its a Meta unit

I've heard that taking batteries out upsets them.If youve got the TVR handbook that came with the car it tells you in there how to reset,i tried to do it on mine as one of the fobs was dead,in the end I replaced both fobs.

I've had a similar issue with my 98 Chim with a standard Meta alarm. I suspected it wasn't the batteries though with mine as both fobs weren't sending the signal properly, but similar to yours worked every time when deactivating the immobiliser with the key in the ignition.

I rang Carl Baker who explained that pressing the buttons on the fobs over several years damages the circuit board underneath. Since I need a new siren and would like a boot release button I have opted for a complete new system to be fitted by Carl next week.

I definitely suggest speaking to him though as he is very knowledgeable and helpful over the phone.

As suggested it may be the fob which are a rubbish design. Carl sells the round Meta fobs which are a vast improvement. Mr Baker must love this site.

rang Carl today, looks like i will be in need of an updated alarm system, explains why the hot starts getting worse as well,

Just to update, took the car to Carl Baker's on Good Friday and picked it up on Bank holiday Monday, yes he did it for me over the Bank Holiday weekend !

Am over the moon, new alarm fitted, new relays, new boot release built in to key, wiring guaranteed for life, I am 1 happy customer.

The man is a legend and cannot rate his work high enough.
