Diagnostics Port - Star Tester

I am attempting to provide better instructions for using the Star Tester and would appreciate any photographs that show the diags port under the glovebox close to the ECU. So far I have identified two types, and the Star Tester has an adaptor to accomodate both but at least one person who has borrowed it said they couldnt find the diags port so I'm trying to help.

any idea what the white square connector with the yellow/black single wire is for ???

I finally got to read your star tester instructions re-write and they look good to me. Like you I have nothing after the page with the codes (page 13 originally and 10 on yours) so references to pages 29, 33 etc, etc are a mystery... we could do with someone coming uo with those pages. maybe a post on the sierra/scorpio forums might turn something up ?

Yellow/black code is for electric speedometer.....if that helps.

Thanks Kevin, I think you use the ford forums? If so could you post the query as I'm not registered there.

Black yellow wire could be the Air Con connection from the ECU, it went to pin 10

Hi Norman,
Good point on the air con.....speed sense could be related to another type of tester requirement
PS off to MOT with a car and talk through blue car...Tony confirms that emissions would be screwed.

Hi Kevin/Norman,

I even emailed loewener for you to see if they had any details or instructions for the tester. Whilst I did get a reply and a pleasent one at that, the man he say no. The equipment is too old apparantley! I know how he feels.

PS the socket on my S3 is the same as the S3 one shown above and worked ok last week.

I have a Gunson Tester with a full manual. It covers most of the Ford Range including the EFI. I don't know if this manual is of use but if you want a copy PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Norman, to confirm my plug arrangement looks the same as on the S2 picture above, and the star tester plugs in without the adapter that you sent with it
