Beaujolais Nouveux run???

I know it's a bit "old hat" - but the thought of taking a group of noisy Brits doing a quick run into France and back, in equally noisy cars really appeals.

Has anyone had similar thoughts, or know if anything is being arranged for this year?

It's the third Thursday of November.

The wine's not too good, but it could be a lot of fun....

Far from being a bit "old hat" and being a bunch of "noisy Brits", the Beaujolais Run is in rude health, and is now a major charity event involving a variety of nationalities in an amazing variety of cars from sensible runabout to supercar....You are right that the event (which has registered the intellectual property in the event) is huge fun though (although is now a navigation trial, not a race).

It attracts a great bunch of people who are vetted by the organisers to make sure they are not likely to embarass the event, its supported charities or the other participants, and over the years has been supported by the likes of Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Stirling Moss and Eddie Jordan and mow has John Surtees as its patron. Similarly you get the likes of touring car legend Anthony Reid and Steve Berry competing in the event itself, plus various other celebs (eg former Bond girls) turning up en route. It also generates a hug amount of free publicity for the event's sponsors (I saw a figure of £3m-worth somewhere)

If you fancy doing it, check out the website at www.beaujolaisrun.com - you pay an entry fee which covers accommodation en route and the 2 formal dinners, and each team covers its incidental costs such as fuel, and like the marathon, each team undertakes to raise a minimum amount for the event's supported charities.

France is beautiful, easy to get to, and full of great roads. Personally I'd not wait until cold wet and windy November to get over there, I'd say go as soon as possible during the Spring, Summer or early Autumn
