A home for Maisie
Discussion
Sue and Jim are fantastic people, so kind and loving. If only there were more people like them in this world. I personally found this program heartbreaking as I am the older brother to the family of 4 they adopted. Maisie herself is a lovely child whenever I have had the pleasure off meeting her.
I believe people should be aware of what goes on in some private homes as it's something no child should have to endure. Some poor children experience more in their whole youth then most do in their entire lives. Having been personally through the whole care process and suffered needless it's beyond comprehension how awful it is never knowing family, friends or any sense of stability at all. I have to admit at Maisie's age I was just as scared and ill tempered as it's all you know is aggression and violence, it's a sad state of affairs really waiting to feel safe and loved. Trying to take on the world and make sense of it all at such a young age is one of the hardest things ever.
Sorry for going on but when you've been there, you can't really ever explain it to anyone. Hopefully this added a little insight to it all from another perspective.

Respect to you Mr Good. Now I have my own kids, it breaks my heart that there are many kids out there who will never be blessed with the love & stability my young'uns currently receive.
To get through life with such a bad start and still be sane/alive/functioning is an incredible achievement. It must be an incredibly tough journey for kids growing up this way. Yet often all us adults see is bad behaviour and deliquency, and jump to the obvious conclusions. Empathy, care, a safe, stable environment and patience is often all that's needed.

That's the issue there is no stability and care in those situations, just anger and violence. I had a useless mother and a step father who absolutely hated me, I still can not fathom to this day why someone would do that to a child though.
From the age of 7/8 I had to personally care for my 5 siblings making sure they were fed and happy, whilst my step father denied me the basics of food and water. I spent my early childhood without anything at all most of the time, imagine Christmas day without play or anything just told to sit there and not look at anything or do anything. I think one of my worst memories is Christmas eve, I had been given a teddy bear as a present that was on the side, I played with it for a few moments and care to guess my punishment for those few minutes of joy? I had to hold both my hands over the table and take a snooker cue straight across them, then I had to endure the pain again for crying the first time.
Due to all this happening behind closed doors, no one ever really noticed and kids pick up wounds naturally anyway so not to suspicious at all. Having your 6 year old sister sneaking you food as she knows you're hungry is still to this day one of the greatest acts of love I have witnessed.
Sadly she was killed in a car accident, which luckily resulted into my siblings being taken into care. My eldest biological suffered brain damage which has taken years to recover from, both in the same accident as my mother thought 5 kids would fit into the back of a Vauxhall Calibra.
Well rather fortunately I now live a comfortable life, as do they. Hopefully when the time arises I shall be a fantastic father with my experiences in life and give my children everything I never had.

Well I have had other biological family members saying it's all bulls
t, lets just say I left them to it. It's bizarre even when people know the truth they think it's all bulls
t, yet never intervened when it mattered. All I say is thankfully I have nothing to do with them at all, a lucky escape you'll agree. I am fuming really, as if someone could make all that up. So yeah years after it all, facts from 5 siblings it's still all a big lie. Luckiest escape of my life all that, so to summarise even people who knew it happened think it's all lies.
Sorry to rant on but I've just got back from the pub to everything being a lie, but to get back to an email stating it's bulls
t has f
ked me right off. Family can't f
king choose them half the time, but someone of us get that lucky chance!
