"Dozens of MPs who repaid money amid public outrage at their expenses claims were quietly refunded under a secret deal with the Commons authorities, it has emerged."

Amazing!

But having the brass neck to claim back that £4.47! Quite shameful that 'lawmakers' act in this way.

Don't read this as support for any of the expenses cheats, I'd have paraded them through the streets to be pelted with rotten veg.

However, whilst it is a completely different scenario, how about the mountains of PHers who work in the private or public sector that post during the work day. Or borrowing some stationary whilst at work?

Bit of perspective needed by the media.

In this case it's not the amount, it's the principle of:
i) Claiming for dog food
ii) Paying the money back only when you got caught.
iii) RECLAIMING THE MONEY WHEN THE AUDIT BODY SAYS IT DIDN'T TECHNICALLY BREAK THE RULES.

Surely, given the st storm that was kicked up with the original revelations, you'd have to be pretty dim to claim the money back for a second time?
