My advice is save the money from an Ohlins and buy something like a sprint for half the money. The actual performance and adjustability of each are pretty fairly matched and both will perform well enough for all but the best of racers at the highest levels. The sales pitch by Ohlins that their dampers are "rebuildable" and have spares avaliable for "servicing" etc while true to a degree when I bent a piston in an off the "spares" took several weeks to come in and it was far from an easy "send it away get it rebuilt" type process which in the end cost me more than a new sprint damper. The Sprints I ran after that faired very well (always mount then across the yoke "ducati" style rather than down the frame) and although I bent one and threw it away the only other damage was snapping a "rose joint knuckle" off the end which I found a next day direct replacement for from RS components.

Denny, accelerate harder next time, and get the wheel off the road. This stops unneccessary tank slappers...

You might well find that on a TL the problem was not at the front at all but is actually induced by the dog shit rear shock, no amount of damping will effect this and all that happens in you tweak the damper up and up untill the bloody thing is unrideable, if its an older TL rip it off and start again if a newer model I'd recommend a Trip to Setup Engineering. As for the BMF not this year.

he is on about changing the rotary rear damper , another mate has just gone and bought a TL1000s cos its a nutters bike innit ! so even worse handling ive tried the TLr and didnt like it no power at the top end whereas the kwack screams on to 14500 i love it !
managed to blag a ride on the zx12r a few weeks back , left me totaly gobsmacked makes my 6r feel like a moped definatly the next bike in a year or two

I've fitted a few steering dampers to bikes over the years, including an Ohlins. There is very little difference that I can feel except that the Ohlins costs far more and is very challenging to buy. The distributor is Harris, and it took them three attempts over six weeks to give me the correct frame bracket - and it was for a Harris frame !! Agree with the zx12r feeling. I got a new one (but 2000 A1 Model - hence for the cost of a new 600) in March. Still running in but utterly brilliant, and it handles despite my Ducati riding mates referring to it as "The Big Red Sofa" - they'll get a fright when its run in ! Anybody fancy buying my RC45 - its in Pistonheads Classifieds and needs a caring new owner.

Sounds like we're having a Kawasaki day, yes I'm a fully paid up member of the K club with a ZX7RR race bike and a ZX12R road bike, I've raced Kwaka's for years now and got hooked believe it or not from a ZZR600 which I bought from new 10years ago followed it up a year later with a ZZR1100 on which I put 30K in year riding it almost non stop from then on I got to ZXR750's, ZX7R, ZX7RR and todays ZX12R. Had a few "discretions" to other makes being an R6 short circuit race bike, I guest ride on a TL1000r Endurance racer (a missile), and a 996 simple because I'd never had one, throw in a couple of blades, and a few other odds and sods and I suppose I've tried most but getting older and fatter and feel the need for a smooth "sofa" that goes like stink hence the ZX12, enjoy it and while not doing a sales pitch there is a bargin on ebay at the mo you might like it's basically manufacturers micro fiche parts diagrams and manuals transfered onto cd rom for the bargin of £9.95 + P&P cheaper than the manual and a good excuse to put one of those old "what the fcuk do I do with this now" pc's in the garage !!!! http://tl1000s.com/microfiche/microfiche.htm
