Selling to France

Hi guys - there's a potential buyer of my car from France. Apart from being careful with the financial side of things.. is there any extra paperwork/fees etc I need to be aware of?

From memory, theres some sort of registration form you have to fill in. The buyer should bring it with him from France. I sold my Tuscan V6 to a chap in Paris. He paid cah and it was very straighforward.

I sold my XJR to a dealer from France in November last year. Very straight forward, & I didn't have any other paperwork to sign or deal with.

French people who buy a car abroad are advised to have the seller sign a French "certificat de cession" (sale certificate) and to have him write and sign a "bill" with all the relevant information (name and address of seller and of buyer, type of car, date of first registration, mileage, selling date, price...)

And don't forget to give the seller the whole V5 (except the "export" part which you have to send to DVLA). Without the whole V5 your buyer will never be able to get the car registered in France!

Well.. the car's gone.. new chap just set off sans-roof on the 700 mile trip to Grenoble. Annoyingly, I'm jealous.
