Driving with the roof down: Preferences?

I always found it a little more drafty in my Chimaera with the rear bit up.
Maybe it was only that the draft seemed to focus just below my right ear !!!!!!!!!

I now have a Tuscan convertible and have bought a draft screen so full roof down and limited draft.

If its not raining then the roof is totaly down on the SEAC and if it startto rain drive a little faster untill i find a bridge.
This seems a redundant question for Chimp owners, itsnot often you see there roof down

Yes, rear section up does seem more drafty than with it as a proper convertible.

My preference is for roof fully off/down and windows down, I tend to find it less windy bizarrely.

Roof fully down is my preferred, don't like having to have the roof on though obviously weather dictates and if you're going to have the roof down then you may as well go conkers deep

When I first got the Chim, I used to drive it with the rear section up. This was on the recommendation of the previous owner, but it is definitely less drafty and noisy with the rear section down.

I've now got a Mk1 Tuscan, which is excellent to drive with the roof and rear screen off.

Roof off screen down all the time to make it a full convertible and better visibility.

Always worry though about damaging the screen as I fold it down.

Likewise, I never drive it with the rear section up, it's more drafty and noisy. Rear down, windows 1/4 down is the most comfortable for speed plus I've got heated seats.

When driving my Chim top down I prefer to have the back section fully down and the side windows down.

Often in the winter the rear screen is too stiff to bend nicely in which case I do leave it up.

Roof panel off. Rear section fully down. Side windows fully down. Less drafty. Less wind noise. More fun!

Very rarely drive the chim with the top up, only if I'm going to be doing a lot of motorway driving. Otherwise it has to be roof fully down and Windows down for that 'surround sound' effect

I e-mail Classic Additions to let them know what a good fit it is (roof clearance and correct radii etc.) but they never responded.

I was looking originally for a screen for my Chimaera but gave up.
After buying my Tuscan I started again and found one on e-bay.
Unfortunately the sale had closed the day before.
While I set about trying to locate the seller, I contacted Classic Additions (detailed in the e-bay advert) but they declined to make me one.
I was lucky enough to locate the seller who sold it to me for his e-bay asking price of 200 quid.

If you contact Classic Additions let them know that I would be happy to let them use mine as a template for making new ones.

Well, I'll be honest here and say I don't particularly like having the roof down. Don't get me wrong, I do actually enjoy it but I hate the thought of people thinking that I'm a posing tw4t.

It does come off when it's particularly warm but it's normally just the targa part in the boot and the rear section upright with windows up too.

But oddly, when I'm abroad in the car, I'll have the whole lot open and I'll really enjoy it. Maybe I'm just sensitive to the British mentality of people being generally bhy and spiteful towards those of us fortunate to have something nice that we've worked hard to achieve.

Which is strange, as I'm a confident person who normally doesn't give a toss what people think.

Might sound odd but that's my take on it.

Absolutely - roof off unless there's a damn good reason for it not to be.

(Snow is not a reason - that just blows over the windscreen and isn't a problem...)
