Well, it looks like I may have found an MG Metro engine/box at last. Not sure if it comes with an exhaust manifold yet. If it does, is it worth using or do I go LCB etc. Seem to remember the standard one's ok.
Using a inch and threequarter SU I think.
Getting there slowly.....

Best to get a free flowing LCB.

Its the manifold that makes a difference on the Mini so best do it whilst its easy I reckon...

Good question, this, I was just speaking to my brother about the same thing. He also has an MG Metro lump to fit, and wants a decent manifold but can't find a 1 3/4 inch one anywhere. Any ideas??

maniflow do a tubular inlet manifold for a single 1 3/4, supposed to flow loads of air.

The MG Metro inlet manifold is not too bad. It could do with a bit of gas flowing, but with a 1.75" SU it's OK.
For the exhaust I would go for an LCB, big bore type, with either a Maniflow 2-box or an RC40 2-box, centre exit exhaust. The RC40 is cheaper, but not so strong. It is, however, quite a bit quieter without significant power loss.
Make sure you don't use the water heating on the inlet, just by-pass it with the heater hose.
I hope this helps,
Going home now to fix my manhole cover (see other post?!).

Peter.

MiniSpares do an alloy inlet manifold suitable for an 1 3/4" SU. I've used the smaller one for 1 1/2" SU before and it was fine. According to MS own figures they flow more air than Howley, Oselli or the MG inlet.
