Babies die every day. Some of malnutrition. Most of those will have been born to meat-eaters. Are we now to conclude that the babies of meat-eaters are at high risk of death through malnutrition?

As said above, that was st parenting, not veganism.

I actually am a little confused.

Forgive my ignorance here, but the baby only got breast milk? But isn't that how people have been raised for thousands of years?

Would the milk be different due to the poor diet of the parent? Perhaps lacking certain nutrients because the mother does not consume them?

This isn't the first time, and it won't be the last.

Poor little thing. No chance even to work out why it didn't feel right. Just cries and no answer.

Very sad.

I don't understand vegans i agree a lot of "factory" methods of meat product
production is not pleasant however Humans are OMNIVORES we are designed to
and need to incorporate animal products to survive!
We are a hunter gatherer species FFS the clues in the name!

If you must lead an animal product free life at least do the research
in to alternative sources of the vitamins, minerals enzymes etc
that you would normally extract from animal products.

Yes i feel better now.

You can start introducing babies to solids at 4 months.....as my daughter will when she's 4 months next week.

It's utterly unbelievable that parents could do this to their child.

Yes, of course.

We are omnivores.

The parents sacrificed the life of their child for their principles.

Most parents, if not all, make sacrifices for their children. These parents did it the other way around.

No baby would be healthy on just breast milk for 11 months! This is stupidity, the vegan lifestyle choice may be a sign of this stupidity, they should certainly be done for starving their child to death.

IIRC the last pair to do this here were tried but unpunished.

They should have been starved to death themselves.

Veganism isn't the issue here. It is perfectly possible to be vegan and have good nutrition. The parents were just idiots.
