Having a problem with recording sound with my bullet cam. I've got a Canon MV530i, which came with a lead to plug into the A.V socket on the cam, which you then plug the bullet cam and a microphone into.
My problem is that when I plug a microphone in and record, it hardly seems to pick up any sound. I can't seem to find any settings on the cam to change, and it is a powered mic, so was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem, or knew of a solution? Was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with my camcorder.

Not sure this will be of any help

Is it the Sony bullet cam from RF Concepts? I had problems with a Sony digi cam with said bullet (it was too loud, not too quiet), and finally found a software way (hidden deep in the camera) of increasing or decreasing the input by - 3db or + 3db.

I eventually bought a cheap mic and the right connecting wire and used that instead of the Sony mic.

Not quite the fix for you, but might add some clues.

On my MV400i the A/V input has one video and two audio inputs on the same socket, and it came with a lead that had the corresponding jack plug connected to three separate phono style connectors. The bullet cam and mics have the corresponding phono connectors and plugs straight in. The cam and mics also take a 12v supply and they're daisy-chained from a single 12v feed. Is yours anything like this? The camera also has an option to switch between mono and stereo input. If you're only using one mic, you might need to select the mono input option, or you could try plugging the mic into the other phono connector?

Mine sounds similar, although my mic has got no external power going to it, it is a battery run one. I was wondering if maybe a seperate pre-amp might help boost the signal.
GetCarter, mine is a Sony bullet cam, but it sounds as if the setup is slightly different to yours, when I plug in the AV lead, it cuts out the on camera mic, so I need to use an external one.
Thanks for the replys guys!
