Easy to use compact digital camera.

My dad had a Nikon 4600 camera (4 years old) which was stolen. He always found it confusing and kept it in auto mode.

Insurance are offering him a Fuji AV110 or a £50 voucher. Is the Fuji any good for him (very basic stuff - pictures of friends, family) and are the results good or should he take the money and add to it for a Canon Ixus or like (I'm a Canon man so would go this route)?
