Settling down to watch 'Hitler's Idols - Hanna Reitsch' on Yesterday and it was going well. I remember Eric Brown met her a couple of times and wondered if knew of the programme. And then good heavens there was the man himself being interviewed! Sharp cookie that man.

And then I saw the caption.

'Legendary Captain Eric Brown, Royal Air Force pilot'

Did the cretins not stop to check that he was a Royal Navy pilot? banghead

Reading 'Wings on my Sleeve' at the moment. Some of his flight-test stories are eye-watering, particularly when ordered to deliberately test aircraft to destruction during carrier landings during WWII!

A great man, saw him a couple of years back at Dunsfold I think it was, but didn't get the chance to chat. Still looks and sounds sharp.

He did a talk for our aviation group a few years back, very sharp man, one of my personal heroes. Part of his talk was about Hanna Reitsch and how he had met her pre war. Now the odd thing was he hinted that something was not quite right, as in the Hanna from before the war was not the same person as the one after the war.
