bouncing a canon 1Ds
Discussion
day before yesterday my 1Ds was launched from the pod of a helicopter simulator.
i had put it by my side forgetting that that was in actual fact the door!
it opened remotely shooting upwards ejecting my camera into the air. it hit the steel ladders and the hyraulic legs on it way 7 feet onto the concrete door below.
upshot is my camera hasn't got a mark on it, but my 20-35mm is buggered.
lucky really - i'm still having sickening flash backs.
flying a blackhawk was cool though - even if i didn't make it back to base!

I can empathise with that: many years ago when I used to cycle I hit a bump in the road and my brand new SLR flew out of the pannier thingy and landed on the pavement... it had a couple of scrape marks on it but still worked fine, and indeed for another 17 years!
Anyway, just a reminder to all that that's another reason to fit a UV filter - if the lens gets a bash, hopefully the filter will take the impact. 'Crumple zone'!
