Ghastly shiny interiors

I hate the shiny polish second-hand dealers use when "valeting" the interior of cars. I was driving an S2 (Audi not TVR) yesterday and the steering wheel was so slippery I could hardly grip it, I kept slipping around on the seat and the whole interior looked like a fetishists play-pen. Does anyone know how to get this stupid shiny polish off and return the trim to it's original non-shiny finish?

A good wipe over with some white spirit will shift it (although test on a small area first to check it doesn't do any harm) then a quick wipe over with a damp sponge to shift the residual white spirit then once dry try a THIN application of Cockpit shine (or similar).. the reason it tends to go shiny is when people put it on by the gallon

Just use the car for a few days, it'll wear off.

Just had the SVX vallet'd (sp?) as it was pretty mucky inside, previous owner was a smoker. Guy who did the job used silicone polish on interia including the seats and steering wheel. Now two weeks on the shine is sort of still there, but it's not slippery anymore.

I use a good leather food on the seats anyway, so could do the same to the 'wheel.

I use armour all non gloss to clean my interior seems to do the trick pretty well

About 60 B&H with the window up tight should soon see to that
I've always clean the plastic bits of the interior with 'warm soapy water' it seems to keep it clean and doesn't make it shinny. It would probably lift the polish off as well. Can't hurt to try it as it's free, before you buy something whilst browsing the shelves in Halfords/Les Smith. Lets face it will not work, you'll never use it again and it will clutter up the shelves in your garage until the day you move. Go on try soapy water
