I have a problem with my work hack. It is a 2001 model VW Bora TDi 115PD 6-speed.

The problem is as follows: When I accelerate from both stanstill or on the move, in any gear, the car will pull 'cleanly' if I use about 1/4 throttle. If I try and use full throttle, the car accelerates as normal until around 2500rpm where the power seems to drop off. (boost??) At this point if I try moving the accelerator pedal position, I can sometimes acheive the original level of acceleration acheived when using 1/4 throttle.

I thought I would pass the question over to the PH massive before I contact the dealer and receive the usual response 'You will have to book it in Sir' routine.

Anybody out there who has experience with these engines?

TIA

Air mass meter, common fault on those, I should imagine a warranty job.

Sounds like it! I've had 2 of these done in the last 3 years. Symptoms as described!

I agree, very likely to be the air mass meter. VAG have certainly been fitting some poor quality bits to their cars in recent years.
