I have been having some discomfort in my abdomen for a while now, it started off as a gurgling feeling but nothing else, it has now progressed to discomfort with a knot like feeling and pressure in the same area, my 'regularity' has also decreased also :haha:

I have done some research and looking at the typical symptons of IBS I seem to meet a high percentage of them including the occasional nausea and lower back pain.

Does anybody else suffer from this, opinions and whats out there to help?

P.S. Dont worry I am not just taking a websites word for it, I am going to see the doctor to have it confirmed!

A friend had some of the above symptoms when he was only 14 and it was IBS...

Maybe a visit to the docs rather than a loosely car based internet forum would be appropriate wink

Get the checks done first. Then when the doctor says you have IBS, replace IBS with 'something non-life threatening, but we don't know what it is'. That's basically what IBS is!

You could be allergic to something, maybe stressed or any number of other things which can cause 'IBS'. Most people simply manage it and don't find a cure, but it can be done. I spent a decent amount of money with a specialist and managed to beat it (after a good 20 years of having it a new girlfriend persuaded me not to put up with it). It turned out I had some kind of yeast intollerance, which the docs/NHS don't test for.

To be honest I believe blood will need to be taken. Just do what I do and find something to talk about and look out the window!!!

And I take back my original statement! Jumped to gun, hope all is forgiven...

If you are a bit crap with blood tests ask to do it laying down - at least you wont fall over when you pass you.

I think I had a blood test, then was referred to a specialist for a colonoscopy (tip: having a month old elise is no excuse to turn down the sedative... I learned that the hard way).

I got the all clear, then soldiered on for a few years until I saw someone else. The tests with this guy were non-evasive but pretty bloody unpleasant.
