looking at selling old mercian, is it worth anything?
Discussion
pretty much as the title really, i have a mercian stronglight bike with mainly capagnolo drivetrain. have looked on google and shows up a few americans talking about mercians but mainly the extralight version.
dont want to stick it on ebay and get a tenner for it but would let it go if it was worth something, so question is any ideas as to where to sell and also any ideas where to price it?
thanks for any help.

frame and forks are Reynolds 753 tubing, front mech is suntour, rear mec capagnolo, cranks are stronglight, rims are mavic MA40 (i think)
extra special bonus point for guessing the car correctly without checking my profile

Very nice.
Built in Derby I think.
Have a look and post it / advertise it on www.retrobike.co.uk or www.bikeradar.co.uk to get an idea on price £200ish+ would be my guess.

It's definitely worth something...753 bikes in good order always fetch good money. They were a rare thing back in the day, much less so now. It was a tricky material to work with & the frame builders had to licensed by Reynolds in order to obtain the steel tubes.
If you don't fancy the ebay option try it on retrobike. There is a classified/for sale section on there.
I've got a 1985 Raleigh 753 (Panasonic/Weinmann colours), that has full Super Record & its a joy to ride. TBH it's the only bike I've owned that I'd never sell.
Andy.

ht not sure if i should do this, if t please delete this post.
bike is up in the classifieds, never did find out its true worth apart from the frame should be worth a few hundred and that the campag goes for mental prices!, but went out on it the other day and its not the easiest bike to re learn road riding! so have decided that if someone can take it on who will be able to use it for its intended purpose and enjoy owning such a machine then all the better. i will be using the funds to buy a Orbea Aqua T23 which should suit my needs more.
I do understand that this can be seen as advertising within the forum so fully understand if it this post is removed, i just wanted to update those who had took the time to reply on what i had chosen to do with this machine.
