Im looking into buying either a TVR s or a Kit car But i dont realy know anything about engines can someone point me in the direction of a good website or a book that will help me out

What specifically do you need to know about the engines? The TVR S had a 2.8 v6 ford engine fitted initially and then a 2.9 v6 ford engine fitted. Neither of these engines were modified much from standard I understand. My 2.9 S3 was pretty standard except that tvr put a freeflow air filter (pipercross) and a free-er flowing manifold on it. If you want any information on either of those engines or the rover v8 based 4.0l tvr engine used in the TVR S series then the S forum is a good place to go.

Everything really i dont know much about them at all so really im after an idiots guide to engines

Seconded. I picked up a copy of this in a bookshop a couple of months back and it's very handy.
