As above, not really sure what to wear, thinking a suit would be overkill! Shirt and trousers? Shirt and Jeans?

Plain black shirt and black suit trousers is pretty standard for bar staff.

Shirt and trousers is fine for a job as bar staff. A suit if its for a job higher than just bar staff.

Sober suit, tie and black polished shoes every time. It may 'just' be a bar job, but who knows what may come along in the future. First impressions do count and may come in to play just when you least expect it. You'll never be embarrassed being over dressed, but you certainly can be by underdressing. Good luck!

all the others are wrong.

it completely depends on the bar.

Are you talking the bar at the Savoy, or are you talking about wetherspoons in Hull?

If for a nice bar then a suit, if for a wetherspoons type place then an open neck shirt and smart trousers and polished black shoes.

A smart suit - every time!

It never hurts to make the effort and it will be noticed.

Agreed! I'm a bar supervisor and this impresses me when I conduct an interview. Good luck!

This. Better to be over dressed than under dressed!
