Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants on DVD..

That must've been in the early 90's when I watched the shows. I think they aired on a Sunday morning.
28th March is the release day for season one of both shows. I believe by the end of the year all seasons will
have been released. Trouble is, do I wait for a potential full box set or buy them individually?

I would build Lego models of the Seaview when I was a kid but, like many things, looking at the show now I think....hmmmmm. Bit too 'third rate Geneva show car nice at a distance awful up close' going on.
On the other hand, and speaking of subs, if they ditched the science areas, dolphin tubes and huggy-feely things and put it back to the warship that it was, the Seaquest is one evil looking submarine

yeah, it was sunday's [voyage to the bottom of the sea, land of the giants or lost in space on rotation] though i have no idea when it aired. i think i may still have been in primary school which would put it around 89-90
The original 1962 movie "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" isn't that bad actually.yeah, it was sunday's [voyage to the bottom of the sea, land of the giants or lost in space on rotation] though i have no idea when it aired. i think i may still have been in primary school which would put it around 89-90
The TV series used an awful lot of footage from the movie as well as lots of old stock footage from even older Hollywood movies. It really was made on the cheap - although ir kept me as a 8 year old throroughly entertained - and scared at times.

Land of the Giants cost $250,000 dollars per episode to produce, making it the most expensive TV show up to that point. So the latter episodes of VTTBOTS which became a "monster of the week show" did nothing to harm Allen's image in the eyes of his superiors.
Especially if it made good profits - which it must have given that it re-used so much old stock footage.Early episodes of "Voyage" were shot in black and white. Later episodes were in colour.
My dad got the VTTBOTS box set the other day and im quite in shock about what was in his words weekend viewing that the kids his age watched, so much better than what is on now, I have to say the episodes are a bit samey but im still enjoying them.
He is buying the big seaview model with lighting kit as well so cannot wait for that to arrive. Think it is about a metre long!
