After making some very bizzarre whining noises and flickering a lot, the screen on my laptop is dead.It won't show any images at all, so I can't see what I'm doing on the computer (obviously). As far as I can tell, the rest of the computer is working fine. Any ideas whats gone wrong and what, if anything I can do to fix it? I've had the laptop less that two years, normal LCD screen.

What make and model is the laptop? Is it not covered by a manufacturer's warranty/ For a short term solution connect up a monitor (if you have one) to the laptop so you actually see the screen.

It could be a transistor or resistor that's gone. Bit difficult to tell.
