Chim/Griff rear hub assembly process
Discussion
I have changed the bearings on the rear hubs of my Chim.
The first inner race is inserted on the hub shaft until hitting the stop (the dust seal is inserted first). The second inner race is then inserted afterwards with the hub in place in the bearing carrier and pressed in place.
But there is no stop preventing this race from being inserted too far.
On top of that, when I put the splined shaft in place and tighten the nut, it compresses the bearings even further and the whole system is blocked.
I am missing something?
Is there such a thing as a guide for rear hub reassembly?
Thanks for your help.

That is correct as you want the inner and outer bearings to be pulling against each other. e635815 said:

I don't understan what you mean by blocked, or did you mean locked so that you cant turn it. If so when I did mine I had to use quite a bit of force to turn the shafts, but a couple of full rotations and they rotated much easier.Have you put the bearing in the right way round?

I mean blocked in the sens I can't turn the hub by hand. It is f***** tight!Have you put the bearing in the right way round?
There is only one way to put the bearings in place. If the outer races are inserted the wrong way in the bearing carrier, you just can't fit the inner races.
Looking at the Sierra manual, it seems like the action of inserting the splined shaft and tightening the nut will seat the bearings in position... Might give it a try like that.
Don't forget the f
