BMX's... Talk to me!

Hello!
I've just got a house with a BMX track not far away.. I've been debating a 2nd hand BMX to pootle around on for sometime and now it has to happen!
However I know nothing about them! I want somethin light ish but I'm 14.5stone! Can anyone recommend any makes to avoid or go for?

If your anything over say 5'10 you'd be better off going on your MTB or getting a 24" BMX for pure track racing, have a look on the track clubs website, I'm sure they'll have open sessions or the opportunity to come along and ask for advice, they'd be best placed to tell what to get and probably have a few riders off loading good machinery.

bicycles talk to me too, a Cervelo S2 is currently saying "buy me.....buy me....."re BMXs, go to the track, speak to people, borrow a 20"er and a 24"er to compare. check the track are ok with 24"ers, some aren't as keen as others and kick up a fuss. great sport though its one for the brave....

I assumed from the track reference you wanted to race only, if you just want to do some parkland & street with a cruise and then the option to track a 24" bruiser/cruiser will be the ticket, there is a WeThePeople Avenue & Sunday Model C 24" bikes that fit the bill but both are over £400. As before you'll want to check with what the track will recommend/let you loose on, although if it's a public track and/or they have open public sessions they should be fairly relaxed about what machinery you use.
