Quick HDR question (Elements 9)

Laptop shat itself last week, managed to recover all data in safe mode and have done a factory reset.
Have gone from CS2 to newly installed Elements 9, just having a quick play.
For some unknown reason, when I take 3 consecutive images from my D90, the middle one (+0) if you will is ever so slightly misaligned with -1 and +1.
On CS2 there was an auto align feature, I can't seem to see this in Elements 9, am I missing something?
Why the camera does this I have no idea, shot from a tripod, using timer so cannot be hand coming off shutter release which would be the obvious answer, does it with every set of 3 I have ever taken. Any clues on that also gratefully received!

Don't know about the PS issue but how does the D90 create the files? I've noticed on my D300 the NEFs are a different pixel count to the JPGs so if your body is creating -/+ files from a single original file it could be that?
Thing to try other than timer is the Exposure Delay Mode which (I think) lifts the mirror a moment before it opens the shutter- one less thing to cause vibrations, although there's no obvious reason why this would impact on only one of the three frames.

I do a lot of startrail stacks and don't come across this, but that's using the same settings each time. Have you tried consecutive shots without bracketing, so just using CH or Continuous or whatever the mode's called on the D90?

Although i use this feature to get the 3 images anyway, will try without bracketing though and report back

Going to stick with Elements and try using Picturenaut as and when I need to autoalign anything, hopefully the VR issue will negate the need for it.
