I am thinking of getting a skottel braai gas bbq off Ebay. Has anyone here had any experiences (good or bad) with these?

Are you South African?

This might seem an odd question, but a skottel braai is a South African product. I'd recommend highly.

What does the skottel look like?
Bowl type or griddle type?

Edit: Just found it on ebay. Go for it. Great for quick outdoor cooking of breakfasts, etc.

No, I am not but worked and lived there for a while....I am also a trained chef by trade who likes outdoor cooking. I am not great with uploading pics - basically, it's a large flat frying pan on a stand fed by a gas bottle.
I suppose great for flash frying fish and keep the smell out.......

Yep, that's the link I found on ebay. I'm now actually quite tempted myself (don't worry - they have more than one for sale. )

It certainly does bring back fond memories of my years back in SA.
