Going to cook duck breast on friday with 5 spice, honey, ginger etc served on a bed of stir fried red peppers mange tout & other bright veg.
I've no problem with any of that but I can't decide what else to go with it.....I'm stuck on crispy rice noodles or crispy potato balls, I'll mix up some suitably "chinesey" spices to put in them.

Anyone got any inspiration for me....please confused

Thanks
Chris

Personally, I'd go for stir-fried fennel to complement the flavours of the 5-spice, and plain steamed rice.

I have the opposite problem - in about an hour when I get home. I have a duck breast and very little to cook it with. I have new potatos to serve it with.

I have no five spice, star anise or anything oriental. No plums or cherries. I know there is honey in the cupboard, that's about it.

Happy for suggestions otherwise will just plain sear it then roast it

Ended up throwing the duck breast into a pan to sear, then bung on some honey soy and black pepper. Duck breast was lovely. Totally overcooked the sauce, should have added it at the last minute. We live and learn!

Should have removed the duck breast onto a warm (but not hot) plate to 'rest', while you prepped the sauce.

You'll know next time. wink
