The Holeshot/Huddersfield car:

380bhp at 1.2 bar

60 in 3.2

Oh, and just for reference Clive, standing quarter in 11 seconds @ 130mph.

This however looks like its all steel and glass.

So perspex and CF would bring that down.

Thats as quick as a Maclaren F1

Bonkers.

Roll on Summer!

You definately going for the turbo'd busa Mini then Matt?

Absolutely insane - can't help wondering what sort of results the (rumored) 600 bhp holeshot busa would give...

Spoke to Chris at his stand at the Kit Car show, and he said that 11 sec 1/4 mile was with a passenger !!!!!

Ps have know got a Roller bearing T28 good for 420BHp for the Busa..... and am thinking of using a water cooled intercooler system after speaking to another Turbo expert.

Have now got three coming, they are going to be shipping over by sea, due to the wieght was getting to high for flying. So may not be here till june.
Ps Have now got a Roller Bearing Garrett Turbo capable of over 400bhp, and it spins with even a slightest blow, so should build boost even lower in the rev range....

You know, I just can't see the 'busa drivetrain holding up. Never mind it's being boosted, I fear for the transmission. It was never desiged to move 3-5 times the weight people are subjecting them too. The engine itself was never designed to run stressed for any length of time. On the stock bike, how long does it take to get up to "silly-fast" speed, 10-13 seconds or so? Once put in a BEC it's under a lot of stress for a much, much longer time. God knows what's going on when it's boosted...

I guess time will tell how well the factory over-designed it. Unless the BEC weighs, oh, <400kg or so, it seems like the poor motor is living on borrowed time. JMO.

I agree. That's why I think it's better (fundage allowing) to go down the route of two engines, like Z-Cars, and thus the weight is halved pro rata, and the power doubled.

But Clive don't care as he is 'only' going to start with 350-380 ish rwhp

If you DIY it, a bearing freshen once a year is only going to come to £400 or so and its a piece of piss to whip the engine out and do on the bench, so it shouldn't present too much of a problem. I would love to see what the internals look like after 12 months of 'use' later

Golden rules, dry sump and proper cooling will be the necessary insurance here.

I however like you eagerly await the outcome as even with the latest Cryogenic treatment on the gearbox primary shaft, it will be the test of all tests with the engine producing twice it's standard power

I think that Clive should ask Ted if he can put his project up on a seperate thread here along with all the pictures (as I have a good few already) as it is a fascinating project to watch

What do you lot think?

Maybe ?

Good news the engines should be here in the next few days, but will take till next week to clear Customs etc.

Went to see my Turbo today it's a T28 GT Ballbearing version, good for 400+ bhp. My god does it spin freely, its waiting for the compressor housing. Also have ordered a Turbo boost controler its a HKS Item. Should now be able to control boost to what ever level I want, so keep it down for normal driving and lenghten the life of the engine.....

PS have spare Crank Rods Gearbox and Barrels, as may build stronger engine later..
