Wipe Out

The humble windscreen wiper hasn't evolved much in the last 70 years. Anyone got any better ideas?

I like the the ship idea, have a dirty great spinning circular glass one, rain spins orf. Mind you haveing a gyroscope on a car might make handling interesting. Peds run like hell when it comes off at 2000 revs, oh and car design a bit odd.
Or by a mobile garage that runs on a remote control unit that you stear as you drive along to keep you dry. Better stil use WAP technology through you mobile and use the 2,6,8,4 keys to steer.

hmm I would love to have a skimpily clad lady with a chamois leather doing the honours.
Maybe Kelly Brook like this would be nice

Side to side wiper maybe .. but I imagine it wont work :S
Current wipers are not ideal as they push the rain down the screen, when they go back up the wind speed try’s to push the rain back up.

When PetrolTed is Prime Minister he'll be able to ban inclement weather and bird poo thus rendering windscreen wipers redundant and also making the world a better place for convertible car owners.

Vote Ted in your local elections this month.

Is it just me or isn't that woman about 8 foot tall! If you wanted to bring her along you'd have to tow a caravan.....

what about a windscreen width vent at the foot of the screen that directs a fast moving air stream up over the windscreen. water wouldn't even reach the screen then. would work like the air curtains in supermarkets to keep insects out.

I was thinking of strapping him to the roofrack then could provide an on-the-move service..

May not unstrap the bugger before the carwash either

Yeah, you could oscillate the windscreen at a million cycles a second etc, so rain drops would be instantly vaporised. They had a system on tomorrow's world like this for truck wing mirrors I think. However, it would probably be expensive or dangerous in a crash or something.

But the blood and gore from cyclists and pedestrians would also presumably go the same way as the rainwater, which is a benefit if you're in the habit of mowing down anyone daft enough not to be in a car

How about hanging on of those blue chip shop fly blasting lights in front of the windscreen to boil the rain away and also nuke the flies and cyclists before they splash all over the place?

We've already got Rain-X, just add brotherharry's airblower (suitably speed-dependent) and you'd never need wipers.

i have a big whirly thing for my kart helmet which works quite well. though a big whirly thing on the front of your car probably wouldnt be too practical....
