Explaining Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising.
Much sacrier in the first couple of films where you had very little idea of his history and why he's a psychopath. Having it explained in 'Rising' took away the enigma and you almost found yourself sympathising. And you should never sympathise with Hannibal Lecter

How/why the immortals were immortal and fighting in Highlander
Is it though? The second film is ignored by the series so it's still a mystery isn't it?Wonder if Lucas wishes he could do that with the Phantom Menace?

and we still wish we really didnt know!

A very good point, but I found that the exact opposite was true with Texas Chainsaw MassacreMuch sacrier in the first couple of films where you had very little idea of his history and why he's a psychopath. having heard about it for so many years before i got around to seeing I was massively dissapointed, thought it was really poor.
Then I saw the modern prequal where it made sense of things, I enjoyed that one.

What about how the Alien ship crashed on Planet LV-426. Do we need the planned prequel Alien film to explain it?
I think they have screwed up Alien so much it would be nice to get it back on track....I am still undecided as to whether I like the proposed idea for the Alien. The explanation given in The Matrix for why the machines would want to enslave humanity. To turn humans into batteries. WTF? They could lobotomise them, or use cattle.
A far better explanation would have been that we (allegedly) only use 10% of our brain capacity. They could have proposed that the machines were using human brains as organic CPUs by utilising the other 90%. And even then they would have genetically engineered humans to have stumpy (or no) limbs.

Hell, I was annoyed the director's cut of Aliens showed the colony with people in it and going off to the ship! Some things are best left to the imagination.I was also perfectly content with vampires just being vampires, without a million films trying to explain mutations, werewolf blood, etc. etc.
