Just heard that one of our Tristars returned from maintenance in Abu Dhabi with an interesting problem :-)

All of the stencilling in the electronics bay had been applied in reverse... i.e. The person applying it couldn't understand English...
The worrying thing is not who did it, it's who signed it off!!!!

What else are our guys been exposed to?

Do you really expect the guy signing it off to visually inspect! wink The condition some of our aircraft come come back off check in is crazy! They normally go straight in our hangar to be given the once over before being let loose with the public smile

Just out of interest, why do they go to AD for maintenance?

From the Marshall Aerospace website
"Following 25 years of providing maintenance and modifications to the RAF Tristar fleet, in October 2008 Marshall was awarded the Tristar Integrated Operational Support contract by the UK MoD and Industry partners Flight Support Services and Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies to support the fleet until their out of service date. Currently, the Tristar fleet is also receiving a 'glass' flight deck and many self-protection modifications designed and installed by the Company. "

Initially the contract went out east simply because Marshalls didn't want it and GAMCO put in a better price. Marshalls still looked after any AOG stuff down at Brize and anything to do with the tanking stuff (which they designed.

I did hear of an aircraft (comercial) receiving maintenance where the engineers muddled psi with kpa when filling the tyres eek Fortunately the mistake was spotted.....but good grief!

I was told by a friend who works in aircraft maintenance, so it could be the truth but could also be that he wants to damage the reputation of the cheap labour that some airlines are now employing to replace chaps like him tongue out

Ive seen pics of an american who muddled up psi and bar in an F15 main wheel, not a nice sight afterwards, its a pic that goes around alot in training.

Oh, and Oxy and Nitrogen shouldn't be able to be mixed up and the connectors are different sizes and the hoses different colours.
