Guess how much...
Discussion
Had a curious sensation the other day in the SL55 (no, nothing like that) as the indicator stalk came off in my hand. It's working, sort of, but spinning hopelessly on it's axis. I guess its a classic case of a small but vital piece of plastic breaking off. Somewhere that you can't see or get to. Nice. Haven't spoken to my Indy yet to find out how much, so thought you might cheer me up with some woefully optimistic estimates... Fire away!
The bugger of it is that it needs to rotate on it's axis to adjust the wiper speed, but rather than click through 4 positions it just keeps on going and then detaches completely (apart from the wires). A drop of glue is bloody tempting though!
I can imagine what MB would say... "ah, well you see, it's a sealed unit, so we'll need to replace the whole steering column..." hopefully it won't require major surgery, but I can feel a stiff drink coming on... ;o)

It is probably some tiny spring or bit of plastic that has worn or escaped. Easy to fix, once the sealed assembly has been takes apart, which is usually impossible to normal humans.I can imagine what MB would say... Might be worth asking on mbclub.co.uk, a lot of knowledge there.

lol yeh sounds about right, i once pressed the driver side electric window switch a little eagerly and it just fell off in my hand! MB will definitely give you a small shock when it comes to the repair bill, has the OP asked for a quote yet? Plus £892.56 + VAT fitting

sorry to hear of your mishap, could try this site www.mbgtc.de,its german but you will find what you want but it will be time consuming, but a lot cheaper then the main stealers.
