changing the colour of seats

I'm about to change the colour of my XJS seats from grey to biscuit. I have obtained the dye from a well known furniture manufacturer and while it looks OK to change the colour of leather parts of the seat, The piping and the back of the seat are made of vynl. Has anyone got experience of using the colourants on vynl.

If you look at my web site at http://www.tvrgit.com and at the diary page for November, you'll see that I refinished my seats, including recolouring the piping from dark blue to magnolia. It was fine.

Have you fitted the XJS seats yet?
If not I would get the fitting sorted then remove them again for colour change, otherwise I think there's a fair chance you could scuff or mark them.

What a great response once again. I have read the diary and I'm now confident to proceed thanks for that.

I will dry fit the seats prior to colouring so as not to scuff them....thanks for the tip.
