I have gradually over the last 3 years been bringing the other half up to speed on what constitutes a proper film.

Some of the films she's caught up on are Star wars - bought for her within a month of getting together, Robocop (which she genuinely thought was going to be a kids film), Predator, and just this weekend, Alien and Aliens.

What others should I make sure she sees?

It seems that you (and now your OH) like decent Sci Fi stuff.

Allow me to recommend District 9, Monsters, & Children of Men.

A lot of good suggestions there - how did I forget about The Fly????

A few there I haven't seen yet, which will be added to the lovefilm list.

She's seen Transporter 2 and Death Race, and there's nothing will convince her to ever watch Jason Statham again.
